Sunday Preschool/Kindergarten Sundays, 10:45-11:45 am
“Little Church” for 4 and 5 year olds
Will my child have faith? The aim of faith formation is nurturing the faith of a child so that it can grow. At no age is this growth process more important and more delicate to achieve than on the pre-school level. Psychologists emphasize the importance of these tender years in shaping the personality of the person. What is true in personality development is also true in shaping Christian faith. Christian parents, therefore, have a direct responsibility for the religious formation and growth of faith in their children. They are the first teachers; the home is the first classroom.
To support the parents, Nativity Church offers “Little Church”: Sunday Parent Partnership” for children of pre-school/kindergarten age. Children must be 4 years old by October 1st to enter our preschool/and 5 years old to enter our kindergarten program.
“Parent Partnership” means that the parents come and help the lead catechist (teacher) in the classroom. We want to make this teaching time a relaxed and fun morning. This takes teamwork! The lead catechist (teacher) will prepare the lesson and have all of the materials ready to go. Parents work with a small group of children to carry out the plan. Parents are never alone and are considered part of the Sunday Morning “Little Church Team”. Please plan on becoming a Parent Helper. (Free Sunday Nursery is available if you have other children ages 1, 2 and 3.)
