Once again, the Nativity Church of Fargo and the Nativity Knights are collaborating to improve the lives of many people. This year, those who benefit are all people who use our parish campus. A much-ignored part of our physical campus needs to be expanded. The walk-in freezer in the kitchen is utilized to store food for many events – Nativity School lunches, monthly parish breakfasts, Fall Festival meals, Lenten dinners, funeral lunches, wedding receptions, Christmas Party meals, prayer groups and just about anything else you can think of! The number of groups utilizing the walk-in freezer has caused a severe lack of storage room which in turn causes a multitude of problems including; mixing up of food for different events, accidental usage of another group’s food, missing and damaged food, and a general chaos that has been the challenge of every volunteer who works in the kitchen, not to mention it is not sanitary to store food on the floor of the freezer. If you have not looked in the freezer lately, look at this photograph taken recently. The freezer has been for the last couple of years in this condition.
Each year the proceeds of the Knights of Columbus Calendar Raffle have been designated to special projects, both inside and outside the parish. 2010 raffle proceeds will go to a lesser known, but still important project, which fills an essential need for both the parish and the Nativity School. The beneficiary of the Knights of Columbus Spring Calendar Raffle is the ‘Nativity Freezer Expansion Project’.
The goal of the parish’s project is to expand the freezer by adding 10’ to its footprint. This will allow all groups to have easy access to separate pre-designated areas. Careful planning will insure to not block access to the kitchen door, and will not limit parking. This project will cost approximately $17,000.00 to complete.
Raffle tickets are $10 each. Simple math says that if every parish family would purchase at least two tickets, then the entire project would be paid off without any funding necessary from the parish’s reserve funds.
All parish families were sent five tickets. Additional tickets are available at the Parish Office. You are asked to purchase as many tickets as you would like and then sell the rest. Each ticket has chances to win a cash prize! Prizes range from $30.00 to $500.00. A winning name will be drawn for each day in June 2010 with a Grand Prize winner being named on June 30, 2010. Daily winners will be awarded the dollar amount shown for that day on the ticket. If you win one day, your ticket will be re-entered and included in the remaining drawings, allowing you multiple opportunities to win.
Please mail the completed ticket stubs along with payment, to the Nativity Knights of Columbus at the parish, or drop sealed envelopes in the weekend collection basket. Checks should be made payable to: Nativity Knights of Columbus.
Thank you for your participation. May the Peace of Jesus Christ be with your family.
