Our theme for the God’s Gift Appeal 2010: “For we are God’s co-workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.” (I Cor. 3:9) In St. Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians we are encouraged to use the gifts God has given us to further His kingdom. We are asked to build a solid Christian foundation by knowing and living His teachings. We must carefully build upon His solid foundation since no other foundation can be laid. We are His co-workers and His partners. We are God’s temple. His spirit lives in us! He also created and called us to be prudent stewards. We are to share the gift of time and treasure for the benefit of all. Each one of us does the work the Lord has given us to do. The quality of each person’s work will be seen when the days of Christ exposes it. It is through these charitable works that the Catholic Church’s evangelization helps lead all of us to Christ’s eternal promise. We, are sisters and brothers in Christ, trust in God’s Divine Providence. We rejoice in His word, and recognize that we are stewards of a precious treasure; our Catholic faith. We are [...]

North Dakota is one of only a handful of states that offer tax credit for charitable gifts and endowment development. The 2007 North Dakota Legislative Session created an income tax credit specifically for charitable gifts made to qualified endowments by businesses, and the law expands the current income tax credit for individual planned gifts to charities. Nativity Church of Fargo was instrumental in the creation of this law, which allows for the following: The legislation created a new state income tax credit for gifts made to qualified endowments. A qualified endowment is defined within this legislation as an “irrevocable fund held by a North Dakota incorporated or established organization that is a qualified nonprofit organization; or a bank or trust company holding the fund on behalf of a qualified nonprofit organization.” Funds established with Nativity Church of Fargo do qualify under this law. The new credit for gifts to endowments is equal to 40% of the value of the gift, with a $10,000 annual cap. Any unused amount of the credit can be carried forward three years. The new credit for gifts to endowments is available to corporations. It is also available to partnerships, S corporations or limited liability companies, [...]

We welcome to our round table of parish ministry Jordan Buchhorn as our full time Youth Minister. Jordan will began his ministry here on Tuesday, September 8, 2009. Let us welcome Jordan with a spirit of Hospitality as we always do here at Nativity. Thanks. HELLO COMMUNITY OF NATIVITY FROM YOUR NEW YOUTH MINISTER. My name is Jordan Buchhorn, and I am excited to say that I am the new Youth Minister at Nativity. I am originally from Victoria, Texas and now reside in north Moorhead with my beautiful wife Monica. I enjoy cooking, fishing, sports, playing guitar, and learning more about our Catholic faith. I first became involved with youth ministry as a volunteer at the age of 18. I also had the opportunity to help with the music ministry at my Parish playing rhythm guitar for Mass, praise and worship and retreats. In 2006 I joined NET Ministries (National Evangelization Teams) where I had the opportunity to travel around the US with 10 other young adults putting on retreats for junior high and high school students (this is also where I met my wife Monica). God has blessed me abundantly in these experiences not only in allowing me [...]

Extension of IRA Charitable Rollover Included in Financial Rescue Bill! Take advantage of this renewed giving opportunity! On October 3, 2008, the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 was passed by Congress and signed into law by President Bush. One of the last minute additions to the Senate version of the bill was an extension of the charitable IRA rollover provisions to distributions that expired at the end of 2007. The new legislation extends IRA rollover gift provisions of the Pension Protection Act of 2006 to make it applicable to gifts made in 2008 and 2009 retroactive to January 1, 2008. What this means for you.. The newly extended IRA rollover provision permits you to use your IRA to help accomplish your philanthropic goals with no federal tax impact. If you are 70 ½ or older, you may make a gift or up to $100,000 per year to Nativity Church of Fargo from your IRA with no federal income tax, impact and your gift will be counted toward your required minimum distribution. To obtain this benefit, you must instruct your IRA administrator to transfer funds directly to Nativity Church of Fargo in one of our many endowments. If you withdraw the funds [...]
