Thank you, thank you! Nativity parish had a grand total of 75 salads donated to our 2010 Spring Salad Buffet, held on May 5th 2010. Our Nativity parishioners are the best! It is because of the continued support from our generous parish faith family that we were able to serve over 200 people at our 8th annual spring buffet. We appreciated our decorators, advertisers, salad makers, donation givers, kitchen and dining room workers, tear down and clean up crews. Along with grant money from Catholic Aid, we will net close to $2,000. for our Nativity Faith Formation Programs. Thanks again to all who made this buffet possible!

(Video and Discussion) My neighbor is just beginning to embrace the faith, having been raised as an agnostic. We’ve discussed spirituality and living our faith. I grew up believing in God, praying and attending Mass. How does one start from scratch as an adult to develop a relationship with God? We all have a relationship with God, defined and measured in various ways. At the very least, we can say God is Creator and we are his creation. But to take it to a more personal level, look for patterns in your friendships. How did you and your neighbor get to be friends? How did you begin to discuss such a personal topic as faith? The answers to these questions give you an idea as to how your own relationship with God grows. Communication, spending time together and getting to know each other are essential to forming the bonds of a relationship. In faith formation, these same things are important. We all come to know God and know about God through prayer, the church community, the Bible, sacraments, the faith witness of others, the saints, and our own backyard discussions. “Cradle Catholics” had the teaching and example of their parents.
5th Sunday of the Year – Cycle C 2010+ Isaiah 6:1-8; 1 Corinthians 15:1-11; Luke 5:1-11 Polls of Catholic churches across the United States give a rather alarming statistic. “The average Catholic parish in North America has fewer than ten percent of its registered members involved in various parish activities.” What this means is that when we take all of the people that are actively involved in Faith Formation, those on various active committees, those doing social outreach, those working in liturgy and music, those involved with the day to day ministry of their parish, and those giving of their time and talent in our Catholic Schools, the total amounts to only about 10 percent of the entire Catholic population of America.
