The mission of the BeFriender Ministry is to educate, form, and support men and women as leaders for a listening ministry of care. Based on a model of mutuality, this national and ecumenical ministry heals hearts, energizes communities, and transforms a suffering world.
Role of BeFriender
BeFrienders provide a listening presence to others who are experiencing transitional situations such as illness, loneliness, loss of loved one. They embody the caring presence of God and of the community and serve as a living reminder of God’s love.

In a moment of despair or confusion, God is Present
Who can stay with us in an hour of grief Caring not curing
And bereavement, who can tolerate Non-judgmental
Not knowing, not curing, not healing, Active Listening
