Homebound
Homebound Ministry
Homebound Ministry is an effort to connect with those parishioners who are unable to attend Mass or other Church functions due to illness or physical incapacities. This ministry brings the presence of Jesus to them through the Eucharist, prayers, visits and other means. It is a way to let our homebound know they are loved, not forgotten and remain members of the parish.
When ministering to the homebound we begin by imagining that we are giving to them; we end by realizing that they have enriched us.
Prayer with another can be a very powerful means of sharing our relationship with God and bringing His real presence to the homebound.
Bringing the Eucharist to those who are homebound is providing spiritual nourishment of the Body of Christ. It is a time for prayer, listening and sharing ones faith.
As a person crochets, knits, knots or weaves a Prayer Shawl, he or she is in prayer for the person who is to receive it. Prayer that one will receive from God the help needed. Prayer that they will feel the warmth of God presence. Prayer that clothed in this shawl a person will be graced with love, joy and peace.
God may be calling you to a ministry to the homebound. Ministering to those who are homebound or sick is fulfilling the Corporal and Spiritual works of mercy.
