\"\"<\/a>Ten years ago, our parish received a precious gift from the North Dakota Peace Coalition \u2013 one of the first Peace Poles to be \u201cplanted\u201d in Fargo. The Peace Coalition expressed their hope that the pole would help \u201cfoster a greater sense of community, fellowship and understanding of each other in our desire for peace and social justice in our world.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Peace Pole\u00a0Project \u00a0grew as a response to the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. Today there are over 200,000 planted in nearly every country of the world, serving as visual reminders to work for world peace. Each pole displays the message \u201cMay Peace Prevail on Earth\u201d in different languages. Nativity\u2019s pole, one of 10 currently displayed in our area, has that message inscribed in English, Spanish, Arabic and Lakota<\/p>\n

\u00a0Join us on Monday evening, August 6th, at 7:00pm for\u00a0the rededication of our Peace Pole. We will have the opportunity to be updated on where other poles are placed in our community, to pray together and to recommit ourselves as peace makers on Hiroshima Remembrance Day. Our ceremony won\u2019t be long, but you are invited to bring a lawn chair or blanket to the northeast corner of our campus \u2013 18th Avenue and 11th Street.
