Message from Pope Francis: “How is faith handed on?”

The following is taken from one of the Pope’s Wednesday talks where he was remembering what he learned about faith and love from his grandfather.

“And here something comes to mind that I have said many times, but that I want to repeat: How is faith handed on? “Ah, here’s a book, study it.” No. Faith can’t be handed on like that. The faith is passed on in dialect, that is, in familiar speech, between grandparents and grandchildren, between parents and their children. The faith is always handed on in that familiar dialect and experience of the years. This is the reason dialogue in a family is so important, the dialogue of children with their grandparents, who are the ones who have the wisdom of faith.”

-POPE FRANCIS 2022

Let’s be dreamers. Let’s imagine what our church would look like if children, teenagers, and young adults wanted to attend Mass each Sunday; wanted to know more about God, who is their lifelong friend. We can do this. We can pass on faith by sharing our story. For in sharing our story is where faith begins.
We are in need of grandparents and parents who would volunteer their time on Wednesday evenings to help others grow in faith. Could you give one hour a week to help this happen? We need teachers and aides in all grades 1-8 to walk and talk through the series entitled “Alive in Christ”.
